Are you ready to transform your relationship to rest?
In Restorative yoga we emphasize “being” rather than “doing.”

We usually talk about “doing yoga”, saying things like, “I’m doing dog pose.” But in Restorative yoga, the subject-object relationship switches. In this quieter method, without movement, Restorative yoga becomes the actor. And we allow ourselves to slowly soften, receiving the pose. This profound lesson, opening up and letting go, is the central teaching of Restorative yoga.

To teach Restorative yoga we must first learn to practice Restorative yoga. In this training you will learn straightforward techniques for introversion and stillness. You will gain the ability to offer your students ways to soothe their overstimulated nervous systems and find relief from the stress of their busy lives. Paradoxically, by giving your students the gift of intense rest, they will discover more energy for family, work and joy.

What are the benefits of Restorative yoga?
We can talk about the autonomic nervous system, moving from sympathetic overload to parasympathetic dominance. We can talk about decreasing stress and re-wiring our hormonal profile. We can talk about blood chemistry and anxiety and improved sleep and immune function and fertility. But the biggest benefit of Restorative yoga is reconnecting with the shimmering silence within, and finding your way back home to yourself.

Who is this training for? And what will I learn?
Designed for teachers and serious students, this training is experiential not theoretical: we spend much of our time together actually practicing Restorative yoga. You can expect to finish the training feeling grounded in how to practice and teach 10 key Restorative poses. But beyond that, you’ll feel more grounded in your own body, more at home, and more able to receive rest.

What is the format of the training?
This is a blended training that includes: 20 hours of live in-person instruction in Munich with 30 hours of pre-recorded audio and video resources.

What do I need to complete the training?
Please bring a blank notebook and this book with you to the training each day: “Restore and Rebalance: Yoga for Deep Relaxation” by Judith Hanson Lasater.

Below are the recommended props for home practice and completing the online coursework. Note: please don’t purchase any new props before the training as you’ll learn about which props work best during the workshop.

  • 5 yoga blankets
  • 2 blocks
  • 1 round bolster
  • 1 rectangular bolster
  • 1 simple chair
  • 1 yoga strap
  • 1 eye cover

How do I become a certified Restorative yoga teacher?
Certification is available from Lizzie when you attend all in-person sessions (no missed days – no exceptions), complete an online course, and submit a written project after the workshop. The fee for certification is $179 USD, or about €165.
